Community Service

Services

I very much enjoy working with the community and I believe it is my responsibility to serve the community we live in. I have been doing this for many years at different institutions. At my current institution, our service is conducted through a “class to the community” program, where students learn about many common diseases in the community and their prevention methods. This knowledge translates to the community at different locations like museums, schools, and adult care facilities. This service is well accepted by the community and at the university. The list of the institutions where our team has performed the community outreach activity is listed below. I am also an active member of the Society for Neuroscience (SFN) and the Society on Neuroimmune Pharmacology. With the help of the SFN local chapter, I have organized the first Brain bee event at our institution with high school students across the valley. 2015-16: Science Communication fellow at Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Florida.
